the God Box

The God Box is a project I started working on last summer. First and foremost it's a book—written by Mary Lou Quinlan—about the little boxes full of prayers and wishes that her mother wrote and kept for her family. In addition to the book there is a performance, website, and soon-to-be-released mobile app.

For my part in the project I illustrated icons and chapter headers for the book, website, and app. The book came out last week, and I got my copy today! It's so exciting to see it up close, in real life after seeing it in bits and pieces on computer screens!

It was so great working with Mary Lou and her God Box team (especially creative director, Lissa, and designer, Rachel!) The book is in stores now—you should check it out! :)

Moving!

I've called Philadelphia home for the past six years (ten if you count college in Elkins Park), and it's going to be very hard to say goodbye, but next week I'll do just that.

I'm packing my things—and The Bean*—and moving to Charleston, South Carolina, to work with Courtney and Amy at Stitch Design Co!

I didn't expect to end my fulltime-freelance-adventure after a little less than a year, but this was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up—I'm so excited, and looking forward to something new! (Plus, how cute is Charleston?)

Interested parties can stay up-to-date(-ish) on my move and new job here on the blog! hooray!

Save the Dates

Caroline and John are getting married in October, and asked me to design their Save the Dates.
The illustration of (part of) the New Orleans Botanical Gardens can be separated from the accommodation info by tearing at the perforated line!

Some Fun Things

I've done a couple little things recently for friends and family, and thought I'd share them.

My lovely friend, Cecilia, had her bridal shower over the weekend, and—as a bridesmaid—I was in charge of favors. Cecilia's mom found some pretty little seed packets, and I put them together in pouches with "M & C" icons. After trying a custom stamp on the pouches, and failing, I circle punched some iron transfer paper and ironed those babies—problem solved! (and hooray for finding a 1 1/4" circle punch!)

Also, one of my uncles just turned 50—he's the last of all my uncles to reach the big 5-0, and also shares a birthday with my brother, so we sent a little banner through the mail!
